The island paradise of Boracay is set to become even more enchanting with the upcoming development of a new integrated resort, thanks to a significant investment from Alliance Global Group Inc (AGI). Helmed by business tycoon Andrew Tan, AGI has announced a $300 million commitment to create Boracay World Resorts, a boutique casino integrated into a luxury resort setting. This venture is part of AGI’s broader strategy to enhance leisure and tourism in the Visayas region.
“We don’t want a massive structure in Boracay,” stated Tan, highlighting the company’s commitment to maintaining the island’s natural charm. The resort aims to complement, rather than overshadow, Boracay’s iconic beauty. This new development promises to enhance the island’s global allure, previously recognized as the world’s best beach by Condé Nast Traveler.
Boracay World Resorts will occupy a significant portion of AGI’s existing 150-hectare township in Boracay Newcoast. This township already boasts an impressive golf course, a secluded kilometer-long beach, and nearly 2,000 hotel rooms. Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., AGI’s leisure and tourism division, will spearhead this and another ambitious project in Cebu, the Mactan World Resorts. With a separate $400 million investment, the Cebu project is poised to become a premier destination upon its expected opening at the end of 2026.
Together, these developments are set to create thousands of jobs, fueling both local employment and economic growth in the surrounding areas. The Mactan World Resorts, in particular, will feature a state-of-the-art hotel, resort, and casino complex, expected to offer over 5,000 job opportunities to local residents.
Travellers International, with its proven track record from operating the Newport World Resorts, the Philippines’ first integrated resort, is well-positioned to bring these ambitious projects to life. With its strategic location, just 20 minutes from Mactan Cebu International Airport, and its innovative approach to sustainable and luxurious tourism, Mactan World Resorts is set to reinforce Cebu’s standing as a key player in the tourism and gaming sectors.
This further strengthens AGI’s portfolio in Asia, enhancing its reputation for developing premiere entertainment and leisure destinations. As Andrew Tan and his team push forward with these developments, the blend of Boracay’s natural beauty with cutting-edge resort architecture promises not only to captivate potential visitors but also to set a benchmark in sustainable tourism development.
